I’ve decided to make today our first Take Two day.
Take Two lets us go back to those prompts we never got a chance to explore. We’ve been moving along at a fast pace. Now it’s time to go back and take a closer look.
I’ll post today’s Brewer prompt, but no new selection from The Writer’s Book of Matches. Your task is to either select today’s Brewer prompt or pick any prompt from the last 16 days of MySixWriMo and write your six sentence masterpiece.
Here’s today’s offering from Robert Lee Brewer at Poetic Asides:
For today's prompt, I want you to write a poem (six) with the following title: "All I want is (blank)," where you fill in the blank with a word or phrase of your choosing. Some example titles, then, could be: "All I want is to eat fried chicken"; "All I want is world peace"; "All I want is for everyone to tell me I'm beautiful"; or "All I want is a handful of quarters."
I like the idea of Take Two, so expect it to appear again in a week or so.
Good luck, have fun, and see you in the comments.
Bearing Witness--The Wall

Back to the stuff that is my true love. If you're counting, I know I have seven instead of six, but that last sentence (to me) is money, and I didn't want to dilute it.
All I Want is to be Left Alone
“All I want,” Callie said, curling into a ball and pulling the covers up, “is to be left alone.”
Standing in the doorway, her mother said that was fine, she’d give her some space, but added as spiteful touch, “I warned you not to go messing around with a married man.” That was her mother’s way: always casting judgment, never considering there were other issues at play and that maybe, just maybe, her own daughter and niece weren’t as bad as she believed them to be.
The newspapers reported that the esteemed lawyer and well-known philanthropist Richard Findley, whose blood-alcohol level was more than twice that of the legal limit, had died instantly when his car apparently rolled off the side of the country road and plunged into the canyon below. In spite of what the papers reported, though, this was the same man who had seduced Callie’s cousin into an affair, only to leave her pregnant and mentally unstable—the same cousin who later left Callie a note to explain things.
In the darkness of her room, listening to the sound of her mother vacuum cleaning now, Callie remembered the vow she took as she stood by her cousin’s casket and how she'd waited patiently to meet up this Richard guy. Then she smiled.
Deliciously disturbing, Stephen. I gobbled it up and wanted more.

I'm reposting mine. Blog host's prerogative :)
Puerile Dictatorship
We decided to dye our hair pink and wear tight clothes. No longer bowed under the weight of the popular kids’ dictatorship, we were free to invent ourselves.
We didn’t actually like pink hair and the tight clothes chafed. We went through the summer with denim waistbands and seams embossed on our sweaty skin. But it was our choice, not Cindy’s or Suzy’s or Melissa’s. We jerked our chins at them and slept with their boyfriends.
Hi Greta,
Love your take two idea. I get to feel current after ruminating on this six for awhile.
I enjoyed your six as well; especially your description of the price paid to invent yourselves.
The Marketplace

The constant hum of voices bubbled in the Quincy Market air only to be pierced by the calls of various hawkers selling anything from Sheppard’s Pie and Philly Steaks to the “Best Chowda in Boston.”
Though he wasn’t hungry, David opted for a Rueben sandwich and a Coke from the Brown Derby Deli, fulfilling his promise to bring a lunch with him when meeting Chloe. He climbed to the top of the circular stairway and to his surprise; he spotted Chloe right away, sitting at a small table with a vacant chair.
Chloe’s beauty far exceeded David’s cautious expectations after their recent volley of “getting to know you” emails and when Chloe’s smile erupted, David's vision blurred at the edges as he glided to her table. She extended her hand and with a voice full of intrigue said, “Hi David, it is so nice to finally meet you.” Turning slightly to her right she continued, “I want to introduce my friend Janice who is a sweet as they come, and while you two are getting to know each other, I’m going to go grab something for lunch.”
SWEET twist, Mike. :) The vivid setting really made this piece shine.
Glad you liked take two. I'm planning to do it once a week through the end of this month.
Nice post, Mike.
Greta, that last line was priceless. Good stuff.
